So what are my first impressions? Well, in short, DoD:S is a game for more mature gamers. Since I don’t know much about it yet, however, I won’t walk about it.Īs the title of this blog post states, this is a first impression of Day of Defeat: Source. I don’t know much about it, but it has one team strategically planting bombs throughout the map to blow up key points.
The other game mode I haven’t had a chance to play yet. This isn’t unique or anything but, if you can understand what I’m saying, it has a similar vibe to Team Fortress 2’s take on control points. It reminds me a lot of Team Fortress 2’s gameplay in that most (or all) maps are control points. This is the version I just obtained and have been played over the past few hours.ĭay of Defeat’s gameplay is rather unique. They later brought it to the source engine. After beta 3, however, Valve decided to bring the mod team on board and release Day of Defeat as a stand-alone game. Like Counter-Strike it originated as a mod for Half-Life 1 where it garnered a strong user-base.
Day of Defeat: Source is one of the lesser known titles from Valve.
